M.D. Family Medicine or Doctor of Medicine in Family Medicine is postgraduate course. Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. It is a division of primary care that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family across all ages, genders, diseases, and parts of the body. It is a specialty designed for family physicians to impart comprehensive healthcare for all age groups. It is a two year residence programme approved by the Medical Council of India. Family doctors can form a diagnosis, counsel patients on chronic conditions and medical treatment options, order tests, prescribe medication and suggest treatment options and refer patients to a specialist.
